Frequently Asked Questions
Should we take the pictures before or after the wedding?
Traditionally, the "formals", pictures of the bride and groom and their families, are taken after the wedding, before the reception. The prevalent reason for this is the bride and groom do not see each other prior to the bride making her grand entrance. This prevents them from being ready for these important shots until after the service. The only negative part of waiting until after the wedding is the delay between the wedding and the reception.
An alternative to the "after the ceremony" shots is doing the "formals" before the wedding. Of course, the only drawback is that the bride and groom must see each other prior to the wedding. We recommend that if you choose to take the formals before the ceremony, the bridal party and family should plan for the bride and groom to have 5 minutes alone the first time the bride and groom see each other either at the altar or in the bride’s dressing room. The bride and groom are "fresh"; not having greeted all their guests. And because the tension of the "grand entrance" is alleviated, the nervousness that most brides and grooms experience is eliminated. The real advantage to pre-ceremony "formals" is that it frees the bride and groom to proceed immediately from the ceremony to the reception.
Some brides and grooms choose to take the formals of the bride and her party and the groom and his party separately before the wedding. The bride and groom do not see each other before the ceremony and this allows us to reduce the photo time after the wedding by about 20 minutes.
We have taken pictures before and after weddings. Both ways have advantages and disadvantages. You should feel comfortable in which ever method you choose.
Do you take pictures during the wedding?
We take a number of photos during the wedding featuring both flash and natural light. This gives you a choice of different effects, angles and perspectives.
Why do you work as a team?
The main reason that we work together is that two sets of eyes are better than one. We help each other catch the details that will make your wedding portraits the best they can be. Also, we come equipped with needle and thread, safety pins, tape, etc. to fix those unexpected "little problems" that might occur and potentially ruin an otherwise perfect day.
When do we get our proofs?
We will have your proofs and order forms ready for you to pick-up approximately 10 days to two weeks after the wedding. We suggest that you circulate the proofs to everyone that was involved in the wedding. Feel free to mail your proofs. Knowing that you want to get your album as soon as possible, please encourage your family and friends to pay with their order and to return orders quickly since we offer incentives to return all orders to us within 6 weeks.
Your packages do not meet our needs - will you work with us?
Yes, because it is just the two of us in our business, we are able to be flexible. If you think the time is either too long or the album package is too small, we can alter our existing packages to design a package to meet your needs.
How long have you been in business?
Golden Eagle Photography - specifically Bob Tucker, has been taking pictures since 1965. However, in 1992, Bob and Sandi decided to make their photography hobby an occupation. Bob's very first photography shoot in 1992 was a wedding and our business has grown from there.
Can you do pre-wedding portraits?
Most brides and grooms would like to have an engagement portrait done for their announcement in the local newspapers. We encourage considering placing these wallet sized photographs in your wedding invitation as often your out-of-town guests and relatives have not met your future spouse and would like to see a likeness him or her before the wedding.
How do we pay for your services?
We ask for $200.00 as a deposit to hold your wedding day. After receiving the deposit, we would be happy to receive payments from you. Our only requirement is that your photography package be paid-in-full one week prior to your wedding. This prevents your having to hand out checks at the ceremony or reception.
Our goal at Golden Eagle Photography is to provide great photographs at a reasonable price. We recognize that weddings are a great photo opportunity. Most families in attendance at your wedding will be dressed for the occasion, so don't be surprised when, during the reception, we take portraits of all grandparents, parents and other families. To prevent us missing that "important shot", if there are any specific pictures that you want us to take, i.e.. generations, bride and groom with grandparents, etc., please let us know. We are there to make your wedding day as memorable as possible.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
