Frequently Asked Questions for Senior Portraits
What does the sitting fee cover and when is it due?
The sitting fee covers the cost of taking your portrait, developing and printing the film and the yearbook picture. The sitting fee is due at the time we take your portrait.
What is a "Montage"?
A Montage print is an 8 x 10 sized print that features up to five different poses on five different backgrounds. You choose the background and you choose the poses to include. Please call to have a brochure sent to you.
Will you take black and white photographs?
Black and white photography has certainly made a come-back in the past two years. Yes, we can take black and white photographs in addition to the color photographs. Keep in mind that yearbook photographs must be in color, so black and white is not eligible for yearbook. We shoot black and white photographs with a 35 mm camera and there is an extra $30.00 sitting fee. Black and white photographs may be included in any of our packages.
Where do you take the portraits?
We usually take senior portraits at a park in west Arvada, however, if you have a place you would like us to take your portrait please let us know.
Where do I change?
We have a large van-conversion that you can stand up in to change clothing. All the windows have coverings so you have plenty of privacy. There is also a mirror if you want to check your hair or makeup.
How many outfits can I choose?
We recommend three changes of clothing; one for Mom and Dad and Grandma (a little dressier - dress for girls, shirt, tie and jacket for guys), one outfit that you would wear to school and one in-between those two outfits. We do take some full length photographs, so take care to choose shoes and socks that match your outfit. If you have a letter jacket, please be sure to include it in one of your clothing changes. Keep in mind that we allow 45 minutes to 1 hour to take your portrait, so three clothing changes are fine.
Can I bring props?
We always encourage those with letter jackets to bring them. Also, if you play a sport or play an instrument (other than the piano), please bring your sport ball or instrument with you. Many yearbooks prohibit the use of props in the portrait, so you may have to choose another portrait specifically for the yearbook.
What if your package doesnt meet my needs?
Please feel free to evaluate your Senior Portrait needs, come to us and we will create a package that meets your needs or adjust one of our packages to include your needs.
I have a lot of out-of-town relatives that want to order - how can they?
We are so glad you asked!! We can set up your own page on our website complete with password so your out-of-town relatives can view your portraits, print an order form and send the order to us. There is an additional $15.00 fee for your own page with password protection.
When and how do I pay for my Senior Portraits?
When you pick up your proofs, we will schedule an appointment for you to return and place your order. We request 1/2 payment at the time of ordering and the remainder is due when you pick up your portraits. It will take about four weeks to get your portraits after ordering. Golden Eagle accepts cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express as payment.
